Who’s afraid of debates?
Not Nancy Binay, who declared on Friday that she is ready to face anyone who will engage her in a debate on the Senate floor.
The neophyte senator told reporters that now that she is a lawmaker, she is prepared to take on anyone of her colleagues, even the veteran senators.
“I have chosen this job, that is why I have prepared myself,” Binay said.
The daughter of the Vice President was widely criticized during the campaign period for refusing to take part in public debates.
Former party-list representative Rep. Risa Hontiveros, who ran under the administration ticket, wanted to engaged Binay in a debate but later declined, saying she would rather focus on the campaign trail.
In an interview at the sidelines of the Senate orientation for new senators, Binay said she has been preparing to spar with other senators when the time comes for her to defend her pet bills.
