Napoles arraigned on tax evasion raps

Businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles refused to enter any plea during her arraignment on 12 counts of tax evasion at the Court of Tax Appeals’ (CTA) Third Division.

Napoles’ alleged tax liability amounted to P18.4 million, based on the charge sheets.

“Upon the advice of my counsel, I refuse to enter plea,” she told the tax court after the first charge was read to her during the arraignment on Wednesday afternoon.

Napoles also refused to enter any plea to succeeding charges.

Because of her refusal, the court entered a not-guilty plea on her behalf pursuant to the Rules of Court.

Meanwhile, her lawyer was fined P2,000 for arriving late in court.

Napoles is also facing plunder and graft charges at the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan in connection with the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel scam.

She is serving life sentence at the Correctional Institute for Women in Mandaluyong City (Metro Manila) after a court in Makati City (also in Metro Manila) found her guilty in a serious illegal detention case filed by pork scam witness Benhur Luy.

  1. To Janet Lim Napoles, is this what you planned for your future ? The whole family is in trouble because of your prior actions and decisions. You are solely responsible. Do you really thinked you can get away with this crime. I am definitely sure that you have friends in high places but they cannot do anything to help you. Now that the Liberal Party is not in power, you are slowly loing your so called political friends. Even Enrile is out. Jinggoy and Bong are still inside. You will rot and die in jail . I am 100 percent sure. Guaranteed. Even your Cathoic priests cannot help you.
