Janet Lim-Napoles and several others pleaded not guilty to the graft and malversation charges filed against them in connection with the alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel of Muntinlupa Rep. Rozzano Rufino “Ruffy” Biazon.
Napoles and former Technology Resource Center employees Consuelo Lilian Espiritu, Francisco Figura, Marivic Jover, and Maurine Dimaranan were arraigned Monday at the Sandiganbayan’s Seventh Division.
Biazon, who is out on bail, was not arraigned because he has a pending motion for reconsideration on the court’s ruling finding probable cause to proceed to trial.
The Office of the Ombudsman claimed that Biazon endorsed the Philippine Social Development Foundation Inc. (PSDFI), a non-government organization allegedly run by Napoles, as partner in implementing a livelihood project for barangays (villages) in Muntinlupa City funded by his PDAF worth P3 million in 2007. The project did not materialize.
Also on Monday, Napoles pleaded not guilty to three counts of graft and three counts of malversation in connection with the complaint filed against former Oriental Mindoro Rep. Rodolfo Valencia who was also accused of misusing his PDAF.
Napoles is serving life sentence at the Correctional Institute for Women in Mandaluyong for serious illegal detention.
