INDUSTRY stakeholders will gather at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City on December 7 to discuss how they can work together to ensure that Philippine export products can achieve a highly competitive edge in overseas markets.
The National Export Congress carrying with theme “Advancing SMEs through Inclusive Business: From Local to Global” will discuss how government and the private sector can work towards promoting inclusive business in the country.
The Export Congress aims to promote an enabling business environment by assisting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), exporters and domestic producers so they can enhance their capabilities in supplying international markets even as they maintain their presence in the highly competitive global arena.
President Rodrigo Duterte will be the event’s guest of honor and main speaker.
Other speakers include Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato de la Peña, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, Finance Undersecretary Gil Beltran, Presidential Adviser on Entrepreneurship and Asean Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) Chair Jose Ma. “Joey” Concepcion 3rd, Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (PhilExport) President Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr. and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry President George Barcelon.
The Export Congress will also showcase the services of government clearance agencies, products of SMEs and exporters enrolled under the Regional Interactive Platform for Philippine Exporters (Ripples) and the Halal Pavilion.
Various networking sessions on international market trends with Commercial Attaches and Export Marketing Bureau will be conducted.
Halal certifying bodies will also be available for consultation on requirements for halal certification.
Top exporters will be given awards for their achievements in their respective industry.
The yearly Export Congress is held in line with Presidential Proclamation 931, series of 1996, which declared the first week of December as National Exporters Week.
It is jointly organized by the DTI-EMB, Export Development Council, and PHILEXPORT.
