The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Smart National Under-22 Amateur Championship qualifying leg is set to kick-off with Group D matches today at the Panaad Sports Complex in Bacolod City.
After holding the first three legs of the competition in Tarlac, Laguna and Camarines Norte, the inaugural season of the regional amateur football tourney continues with 10 games that will be played until November 15 in Bacolod.
Five teams from the Iloilo Football Association (IFA), Negros Oriental FA, Leyte FA, Cebu FA and Negro Oriental FA will compete in the games.
Seeing action in the tournament, which was launched as early as September but officially started on October 4 in Tarlac, are 31 teams from member associations divided into eight groups.
The national U22-level tournament is a part of the PFF’s program to search for new talents in the countryside.
Four more legs are scheduled to be played in different provinces before the end of the year, with Group E matches to be played in Surigao City, Group F in Tagum City, Group G in Sultan Kudarat and Group H in Dipolog City.
The culminating games of the competition, which will include the quarterfinals, semifinals and the finals, will all be held at the country’s football capital Bacolod City on January 2016.
