The level of sincerity is at an all-time high when
you’re at Discovery Shores. I felt it by way of simple greetings
of “magandang umaga po” from the lady who sweeps the leftover
sand particles from the coffee shop’s pavement. I experienced it
every time one of the boys manning the beachfront hands me a cold
towel to soothe my sun-kissed face. I appreciated it more when the
fun and friendly general manager Jun Parreño extended his tight
handshake to introduce himself and stayed with me until I finished
my lovely dessert sampler prepared by no less than Colombian chef
David Pardo de Ayala.
As I took photos of the awesome
villa-type edifices from my super user-friendly digital camera,
I’d be constantly reminded of the warmth of the staff. Out of the
blue, someone will come and offer me a cold glass of pandan-flavored
water. One of the concierge boys offered me some freshly baked
cookies.
At the moment, there are only 40
rooms available at Discovery Shores. The rest of the 48 rooms are on
their finishing stages to make sure that when it’s finally
complete, the resort-hotel will become the ultimate by-word in
Boracay, with impeccable service matching all the material comforts
it promises to offer.
I checked out the rooms and was
very impressed. The architectural and design team is simply world
class: architect Willy Coscolluela, Budji Layug Well-loved designer
Renée Salud was commissioned to dress up the resort’s service
staff and crew. He made the already gorgeous men looked even more
handsome and the pretty and sun-tanned ladies glow amidst the hot
Boracay sun.
My mom always reminds me, ‘Son,
you always pay extra for premium. It’s almost always worth it
anyway.” The rates of Discovery Shores may seem pricey to some,
during this trip, I discovered that some experiences are simply
priceless.
