Microtel is one of the newest resort-hotels on the
island. Its charm lies in the fact that it is far away from the
center of activities where loud music, busy peddlers and all-night
weekend fun-seekers converge. Peacefulness is the feel and privacy
is the thrill when you are at Microtel.
The long road trip from the pier
where our pump boat docked did not discourage someone like me who
can sometimes be impatient. The dust particles that have accumulated
on our faces during each trip back to Microtel were easily washed
away by the pampering and efficient service of the staff.
During my stay, I met the amiable
general manager Dean Cid, perhaps one of the island’s most
eligible bachelors. It’s a small world indeed, I realized, when I
learned that Dean is a younger brother of my college classmate
Ollie, who has been flying for Philippine Airlines.
“We are the first international
hotel chain to open on the island, and we offer the same world-class
service found in our almost 300 properties worldwide,” Cid
enthuses, adding. That Microtel Boracay built its own sewage
treatment plant as part of its commitment to help in the island’s
environmental preservation efforts.
The two-story Microtel Inn and
Suites has 51 rooms that come with chiropratic-approved mattresses
that give the guests a dreamlike slumber. A sleepyhead like me can
vouch that even an afternoon nap can be truly restful.
Food preparations are
unpretentious and the ingredients for a truly simple, quiet holiday
getaway are all present at Microtel.
