NO one can beat The Peninsula Manila when it comes to
throwing parties.
The Lobby of The Pen had just
been renovated and “le toute Manille”—at least those who
didn’t make it to the fabulous 30th anniversary party hosted by
Hong Kong and Shanghai, Ltd. chairman, The Hon. Sir Michael Kaddorie
on December 7—were just dying to take a peek at how the grande
dame of Makati hotels looked after its much talked-about makeover.
And what better time to be at The Pen than new year.
Guests walked into a tropical
Baroque fantasy of balloons in shades of goldenrod, tangerine, ivory
and gold and tables abloom with heliconias, orchids and bromeliads.
Guests included the ageless Ching
Montinola; designer Mitch Dulce; power couple Ronnie and Menchu
Concepcion; Israeli Ambassador Joshua Sagi; pretty Aimee Marcos and
Cesca Ayala; Boling Tuason-Reyes; Ambassador to Austria Victor
Garcia; Titania’s Tita Meneses.
Also Aiko Melendez and Martin
Jickain; Ambassador to the Court of Saint James Jesus and Margarita
Tambunting; Wanda Louwallien and P.L. Lim; Daisy Romualdez with
Danita Paner; Eli and Chian Levin; The Peninsula Manila’s David
and Marilu Batchelor; Charles and Jacqueline Morris; James and
Christine Bevans.
To The Manila Pen, new beginnings
have never been this glam. Happy Easter to all of you.
