Police invites candidates 
to sign peace covenant 


Brig. General Oscar FLORENDO, La Union: Candidates from forty four towns and cities in the Ilocos region attended Palm Sunday Mass after which they signed a peace covenant initiated by the Police Regional l Office aimed at ensuring honest, orderly and peaceful May 14 elections.

Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil thanked all the bishops for their support in these endeavor held in 29 towns and one city of Ilocos Sur, five towns and two cites in Pangasinan, and eight towns in La Union.

Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Director George Regis said the Mass for peace and signing of peace covenant in Candon is slated on Monday.

In Ilocos Norte, Police Provincial Director Roman Felix made arrangements with the bishop and the provincial chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting and the Commission on Elections for the holding of these twin activities, to be conducted at the Laoag City Cathedral where all the candidates in the province can attend.
