Cebu Pacific launches simulator

CEBU Pacific, the airline unit of JG Summit Holdings Inc., inaugurated on Tuesday the first aircraft full-flight simulator at Clark Aviation to be used in training future pilots to man the carrier’s new fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft.

This is the first and only flight simulator for Airbus aircraft in the Philippines, and cost about $13 million.

“As [Cebu Pacific] recently completed its re-fleeting program and announced the expansion of its fleet with 20 additional aircraft, we are very happy that we are now providing more Filipinos the chance to pursue a commercial pilot career,” Lance Gokongwei, Cebu Pacific president said in a statement.

Earlier, the airline carrier partnered with Clark Aviation to provide financial assistance to suitable candidates for the pilot training program.

Cebu Pacific said the CAE A320 aircraft simulator was delivered in February from Seattle, USA.

“With this state-of-the-art full flight simulator in place, this will allow [Cebu Pacific] to train new Filipino pilots for our growing Airbus fleet. We are proud that this is the first and only Airbus full-flight simulator in the Philippines,” Gokongwei said.
