TALK ‘N TEXT seeks its second straight win against
the slumping San Miguel Beer in the main game of the TNT-Philippine
Basketball Association Fiesta Conference Wednesday at the Araneta
Coliseum.
The Phone Pals (3-3) and the
winless Beermen (0-6) collide at 7:20 p.m. followed by the tussle
between Alaska and Air21 at 4:35 p.m.
The Aces (5-1) hope to catch Red
Bull (6-1) at the top of the standings before the league takes a
break to observe the Holy Week. The Express (4-2) are expected to go
all out to snap a two-game losing streak.
Fresh from a huge 99-92 win over
Barangay Ginebra last week, Talk ‘N Text is beaming with
confidence when it faces San Miguel Beer, winless after six games.
“San Miguel is bound for a win
so we must be ready for that,” said Phone Pals head coach Derrick
Pumaren who criticized his players for not stepping up in the
team’s first six games.
“Before, they asked for playing
time. Now that they got it, some are not stepping up for the three
players [Asi Taulava, Jimmy Alapag and Renren Ritualo] that we lost
to the national team,” Pumaren added.
Luckily for the Pals, import JJ
Sullinger has been providing consistent numbers but the locals have
been on-and-off both on offense and defense.
San Miguel almost pulled off a
win against Sta. Lucia Realty last Thursday but the Beermen lost
steam in the end and yielded to the Realtors, 90-95.
In the opener, Alaska eyes its
fourth straight win and a share of the lead against Air21, which
after a sizzling 4-0 start, absorbed back-to-back defeats.
The Aces are coming off a 94-80
demolition of Purefoods last Saturday in Subic, Zambales, while the
Express were upset by the lowly Welcoat Paints, 99-103.
