FORMER Olympic gold medalist Korean Han Myung Won is
in the town to supervise the training of the national wrestling team
gearing up for the 24th Southeast Asian Games and Olympic qualifying
tournaments.
Han will be here for two weeks to
conduct a series of training, which will be a big boost for the
Filipino grapplers who will vie for slots in the 2008 Beijing
Olympics.
“I saw several Filipino
wrestlers who have the potential of bagging the gold medal in the
Olympics. They should have proper and advance training program to be
at par with some world champions,” said 1988 Seoul Olympic
champion Han through an interpreter.
The Wrestling Association of the
Philippines will send the RP squad in two Olympic qualifying events
this September.
