President plays role of doting grandma

President Arroyo played doting grandmother to her grandchildren on Easter Sunday, treating them to an egg hunt at the Skating Rink of the Baguio Country Club.

The President personally put on the nametags of Mikaela and Monique, EV (Evangeline Victoria) at the start of the hunt.

Mikaela and Monique are the daughters of Rep. Mikey and Angela Arroyo, while EV is the daughter of Dato and Kakai Arroyo.

Mrs. Arroyo even checked on the nametag of EV that was written wrongly by a staff of the country club.

“It’s her initials—EV, just that,” the President said.

She and her husband, Atty. Mike Arroyo, played for a while with baby Diggy—Dato and Kakai’s youngest—who could not yet join in the hunt.

Earlier, Mikaela and Monique had joined in a game that would require them to say “Happy Easter” as long as they could hold their breath. Monique scored three seconds while Mikaela, coming to the rescue of her little sister with the determination to win a prize, scored 13 seconds. They didn’t bag any prize.

Children and adults alike took turns posing for souvenir pictures with the President.

The First Family attended an anticipated Easter Sunday Mass Saturday night at The Mansion.

The First Family traditionally spends the Holy Week in the summer capital. This year, however, was something more special since the President celebrated her 60th birthday on Maundy Thursday with a Holy Retreat with some of her Cabinet members.
