CANON Marketing Philippines, Inc. eyes significant
growth in large-format printer industry this year amid the rising
demand for color copier machines.
In a briefing Thursday, Jerome M.
Nicdao, senior sales and marketing manager of Canon, said the
industry will grow by 20 percent this year from 15 percent last year
with the marked shift to color copiers in the market.
“We’re expecting the
transition from black-and-white to color will be drastic,” Nicdao
said, adding, “We’re focusing on color copier as the industry
targets about 30 growth this year. But we’ll try to maintain the
15 percent share of black-and-white.”
Canon has introduced a new line
of color-enabled imageRUNNER, the iRC5180 and iRC2880. These
multifunctional machines allow users to print, copy, fax and scan in
cost-effective color.
In 2006 black-and-white copiers
contributed about 15 percent while color copiers cornered 20 percent
of the total market sales.
Nicdao said Canon is eyeing at
least 25 percent of the market in 2007, with sales getting a boost
from small medium enterprise and young entrepreneurs.
Canon is the country’s No. 1
digital still camera and copier vendor.
