Solar’s BTV airs PBL games

The Philippine Basketball League has a new television broadcast partner beginning in the 2007 Unity Cup which gets going on Tuesday, April 17 at the Olivarez College Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque.

The PBL, the nation’s premiere non-professional basketball circuit in its 24th year of being the home of the finest young basketeers in the country, recently linked an exclusive deal with Basketball TV, the 24-hour cable hoops channel of Solar Entertainment Corp., to bring its uniquely exciting games to hardcourt fans everywhere.

The games of the PBL will be seen on BTV (Sky/Home Channel 34 in Metro Manila) every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and on Sundays from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., right before the primetime replay of the very popular NBA games.

Solar has very big plans for the PBL, which marks the cable giant’s first foray into covering a local league for several months out of the year but they are up to it.

“We have very capable people all around and with our years of experience doing specials like the Manny Pacquiao fights and the Collegiate Champions’ League, we are ready to take the plunge,” remarked Solar’s Chief Executive Officer Peter Chanliong.

the addition of a free-to-air television component to enable even more fans to catch the hot action at their convenience.

Basketball TV also intends to “loop” the games in the morning hours of its programming grid to enable those who failed to catch the primetime airing to still enjoy the PBL action fairly recently.
