Between Intersections, a video-installation produced by 2006 Ateneo
Art Awards Winner Poklong Anading, opens on April 18 at the Ateneo
Art Gallery and runs through April 24, 2007.
Anading, who won last year’s
Ateneo Art Awards along with Mideo Cruz and Maya Muñoz, was chosen
as the Recipient of the 2006 Ateneo Art Gallery Sydney Studio
Residency Grant. Between Intersections is his response to his
Australian sojourn, using 4-video channels with each video projected
on each side of the gallery walls. With a continuous barrage of
random images from his personal video library shown in a derailed
timeline, Anading aims to confound, displace and to recall the
camera’s purpose of situating and delineating memory and
experience.
Meanwhile, nominations for the
2007 Ateneo Art Awards are being accepted during the whole month of
May from the 2007 Ateneo Art Awards Jury, public gallery directors
(commercial and noncommercial), professional visual artists and art
educators residing in the Philippines. The nomination forms may be
downloaded at http://gallery.ateneo.edu starting April 30, 2007. For
further inquiries on the Ateneo Art Awards, please call 426-6488 or
e-mail cchikiamco@ateneo.edu. The Ateneo Art Gallery is located on
the Ground Floor, Rizal Library, Ateneo de Manila University Loyola
Heights Quezon City.
