TWO-TIME Southeast Asian Games champion Harry Tañamor
vows to make the most of his comeback in the 24th Southeast Asian
Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand later this year.
After failing to compete in the
Doha Asian Games last year, Tañamor is more than happy to be back
in the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines training gym to
regain his slot in the national boxing team.
“Malaki ang pagsisisi ko dahil
hindi ako nakasama sa Asian Games, pero kailangan na nating
kalimutan ang nakaraan at pagtuunan ng pansin ang mga darating pang
laban kaya nagsisikap ako para ipagpatuloy ang pagbibigay ng
karangalan sa bansa,” said Tañamor.
The 2002 Busan Asian Games silver
medalist was replaced by the 21-year-old Godfrey Castro in the light
flyweight division weeks before the Doha Games after the former
grasped suspension from the ABAP officials due to disciplinary
reasons.
“Sa ngayon, naka-focus ako sa
training dahil gagawin ko ang lahat para maibalik ko ‘yung tiwala
nila sa akin,” added Tañamor who anchored the RP pugs’
eight-gold medal romp in the Manila SEA Games two years ago.
Tañamor also expressed
eagerness to be a part of the national boxing squad in its bid to
qualify in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He was a veteran of the 2004
Athens Olympics.
