Giants eye revenge vs. Express

PUREFOODS Tender Juicy and Air21 clash Thursday and look for a win that will put the back in the winning track of the Talk ‘N Text-Philippine Basketball Association Fiesta Conference at the San Juan Arena.

The Giants and the Express, foes in last year’s semifinals, meet in the lone game at 7 in the evening.

Purefoods, totting a 3-6 win-loss mark, is coming off an 82-92 loss to Barangay Ginebra last Friday in an out-of-the country tussle at the Al Ahli Sports Club in Dubai.

Import Marquin Chandler was the lone bright spot for coach Ryan Gregorio as he scored half of the team’s production while the locals, particularly reigning MVP James Yap struggled with their offense.

Actually, the Giants had the control of that game but Ginebra import Rod Nealy waxed hot in the final period to lead the Kings in the comeback win.

Air21, currently at the solo fourth position with 5-3 slate, was clobbered by Coca-Cola in their previous game, 111-123, and is now avoiding for the team’s first losing streak in the tournament.

The Express prevailed in their first-round meeting, 107-103 on March 23 at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Gary David, who is appearing in his first All-Star game in Baguio next game, had a sterling performance with 32 points in that win while Mark Telan also netted career-highs 27 points and 21 boards in that night.
