BACOLOD CITY: The 2007 Philippine Football Federation
Centennial Men’s National Open Championships kicks off Tuesday
with last year’s finalists - reigning champion Negros Occidental
and NCR-taking on separate foes at the University of St. La Salle
pitch and the Panaad Park and Stadium here.
With peppery winger Emelio
Caligdong and defender Alvin Ocampo at the helm, NCR battles
returning Davao in the first Group A game at 7:30 a.m., at the USLS
field, shortly before the match pitting North Cotabato against
Masbate.
Negros Occidental, parading
almost the same team that won the crown in Iloilo last year,
collides with regional rival Iloilo, whose campaign will be bannered
by RP Team striker Dan Padernal and players from Sta. Barbara
Football Club, in the 5 p.m. schedule at the Panaad pitch.
Last year’s Most Valuable
Player Arnie Pasinabo of USLS will be at the forefront of Negros’
bid once again, along with national player Ali Rojas-Go, former RP
Team striker Norman Fegidero and defender Joel Ballo-Allo of West
Negros College and Wilson de la Cruz.
