BI powers clipped due to anomalies

THE escape of the suspected terrorist Vo Van Duc and other anomalous deportations were the reasons the powers of the immigration commissioner have been clipped, The Manila Times learned on Wednesday.

Justice Secretary Raul M. Gonzalez himself submitted a memorandum to President Arroyo to strengthen the justice secretary’s control over deportation cases and in shuffling bureau officials and personnel.
