Palace flays Noynoy on claims
of being demolition target

TOURISM Secretary Robert Ace Durano lashed out at Genuine Opposition candidate Benigno Aquino Jr. following allegation that he is Malacañang’s new target of special operations.

Durano, also the spokesman for Team Unity, in a text message to The Manila Times said the slide by some GO candidates in the surveys is a natural consequence of the rise of some Team Unity candidates.

He noted the significant rise of Team Unity candidate Miguel Zubiri who ranked 17 last month to number 14 this April, based on the recent Social Weather Station survey.

Other TU candidates who have shown significant rise were Cesar Montano and Michael Defensor who were standing between number 16 and 17; Prospero Pichay who is at close number 19, following GO candidate John Osmeña who ranked 18 from number 12 in March.

Durano attributed the rise of Team Unity candidates to their presence in the provinces and from the push made by coalition leaders.

He maintained that TU’s focus is to push the administration candidates up and not to engineer dirty tactics against their rival candidates.

Aquino alleged his dropped in the recent SWS survey to among the six candidates competing for the last three slots was the product of Malacañang’s special operations.

Durano pointed out that based on the political ads of the Genuine Opposition being played on televisions, “it is GO’s strategy to pull down Team Unity candidates. This is not TU style.”
