Governor shuts down 5 illegal mining sites

IBA, Zambales: Gov. Amor Deloso closed five suspected illegal mining companies operating in the town of Santa Cruz after leading a surprise inspection.

Deloso earlier announced that he would shut down illegal mining site operation that exploits and destroys the natural resources of the province.

“For many decades, this mining operations have taken away our mineral resources but not one of them made a project which will benefit the surrounding community, not a single Zambaleño benefited from this companies,” Deloso said.

Deloso together with the Philippine army, the local police and Task Force Likas Yaman made a surprise inspection in five alleged illegal mining sites in Barangay Guinabon, Barangay Guisguis and the coastal barangay of Balitok, all in the town of Santa Cruz.

Deloso identified the mining companies as A3 UNA, San Juanico, Maxwell, KNG and Arcman.

The team also chanced upon a private pier, which was allegedly being used by the company to ferry the minerals, which was also closed. However, farmers and fishermen were allowed to use it for ferrying their crops and other produce.
