DO you know what style and cut of jeans is perfect for your body
type? In a recent workshop for an all-female group, our topics
ranged from power dressing to skin care, from makeup to etiquette,
but interestingly, when the topic shifted to jeans, a lot of women
did not know what type of jeans really suited their body types.
First, they are not aware what body type they
have. Second, although majority knew what bootleg, straight cut and
cropped jeans meant, most were still clueless as to what among these
cuts would look good on them. Because of this, I thought that maybe,
there are really a lot of women out there who may need help in
choosing the best jeans that will help them improve their sense of
style. After all, the denims are part of the basic outfit
requirements of everyone and it might be wise to invest in a good
pair that might even last for years.
1. The Boot Cut is ideal for tall women. This is
also highly recommended for women who have no hips. Short women with
big hips are discouraged from wearing boot cut as it will state the
obvious.
2. The Straight Cut can fit all body types. It
camouflages big hips, and thighs. It also doesn’t reveal those
skinny legs because it is not form fitting.
3. The Contoured Wide Leg Cut is a little
fitting at the thigh, but becomes slightly flared toward the bottom.
This is not good for women who have big thighs. Short women should
wear platforms or wedges or pointed toe flat shoes to complement
this particular type.
4. Cropped Jeans can be paired with ballet
flats, but make sure that you look for the pointed flats and not the
rounded ones, coz it will make you look shorter. Cropped jeans are
always good with platforms and wedges.
5. Wide-legged Jeans is more popular as elephant
pants and it reminds me of the seventies’ disco era. A more
updated version of the bell-bottoms, this style is not ideal for
girls who have big butts and narrow hips. Petite girls must wear
platforms with this style of jeans.
Keep all these in mind the next time you shop
for jeans. Remember, comfort is always more important than style,
but if you can get a pair that is both comfortable and flattering to
your specific body type, then go ahead, buy it.
