THE Taguig City government on Wednesday closed down
more than 80 business establishments on C5 Road operating without
business permits.
Mayor Sigfrido Tinga said a
team—made up of members from the Taguig City Police, the Business
Permit and License Office, the Public Order and Safety Office, and
the Taguig Mobile Patrol Group—served the closure order to the
illegal businesses lining the southbound side of C5 Road.
Among these were karaoke TV bars,
junk shops, motor and vulcanizing shops, goat meat retailers and
eateries.
The authorities put up signs
outside these establishments to tell the public they were closed
down legally by the government.
According to Jeff Minglana, BPLO
officer in charge, the establishments violated the Local Government
Code and the Taguig Revenue Code. Both require businesses to secure
business, sanitation and other permits from the city government.
“None of these establishments
has the necessary permits to operate business in this particular
area. The city government is very strict in the issuance of
permits particularly in Palar,” Minglana said.
He added that establishment
owners had been notified of the closure order two weeks prior to the
arrival of the city’s police-led team.
Mayor Tinga said the closure
operation is part of his city government’s intensified campaign
against illegal activities in Taguig.
