SEAG Task Force chairman Julian Camacho is scheduled
to visit China this month to check on the Filipino athletes training
there.
“We will leave on either August
22 or 23 to check on the status of their training. We want to see
how our athletes are doing. They’ve been training there since last
month,” said Camacho, who will be accompanied by Ritchie Garcia of
the Philippine Sports Commission.
Those training under world-class
coaches in China are athletes from wushu, diving, fencing and
weightlifting.
A total of 482 athletes have
earned slots in the SEAG-bound RP contingent while 127 are still
hoping to pass the standard set by the SEAG Task Force.
