Everybody needs a hero |
|
WE feel lucky if, during the course of our lives, we
have a chance to sit and talk with one of our heroes. But when our
hero not only lives up to but also surpasses our expectations, we
feel something closer to chosen, even blessed.
Such were the feelings of
everyone one humid afternoon in July when we came face to face with
Dr. Timothy P. Shriver, chairman of Special Olympics International
who was visiting Asia for the first time. He was in town recently to
promote the coming Special Olympic World Summer Games scheduled from
October 2 to 11 in Shanghai, China. Taking its lead from the
Olympics, the Special Olympic Games is also categorized into summer
and winter games and held in alternating sequence every four years.
