Sarangani mayor leads ceremonial 
burning of seized marijuana plants

GENERAL SANTOS CITY: Government authorities destroyed some P6.5-million worth of marijuana plants in a ceremonial burning held on Monday in front of the municipal gymnasium in Malungon town, Sarangani Province.

The ceremonial burning spearheaded by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) marked the second largest marijuana load seized in Central Mindanao. The first was a plantation raid in 2003 that yielded P3-million worth of marijuana at the triangular boundaries of South Cotabato, Sarangani and Davao del Sur provinces, officials said.
