The groundbreaking for a P500-million modular
fabricator yard in Balamban, Cebu, marks the beginning of
Metaphil’s plan to turn the location into an industrial yard. The
6.5 hectare yard is intended to build fabricated modules for clients
worldwide. Fabrication sheds, blasting and maintenance structures
and pier facility will soon rise in the area.
Roberto E. Aboitiz, chairman and
chief executive officer, noted that Metaphil’s dream for the last
10 years is to transform Balamban into an industrial yard, adding
that the company committed to provide the place opportunities and
trainings with the support of the local officials. He said, “The
Aboitiz Group has complete trust in Balamban.”
Mayor Alex Binghay of Balamban,
in behalf of local officials, assured support to Metaphil and the
Aboitiz group. “Balamban was just wilderness and now we have
world-class shipyards of Tsuneishi and FBMA,” he said.
Nap Pe, president and chief
operating officer of Metaphil, said the groundbreaking was a
“beginning of a journey toward making Metaphil a preferred world
supplier of fabricated modules.”
