CHAMPAGNE MORALES did not make it big the first time she attempted
to barge into the music scene. Perhaps she was too fragile and her
musicality was too raw. But everyone deserves a second chance
that’s why Champagne has reinvented herself as a rocker.
Champagne used the 1998 Metro Pop Search For a
Star as a jump-off point for her musical career. She eventually
became a mainstay of the GMA 7 Sunday musical variety show SOP,
acted on TV and performing for musicals. She also managed to finish
her psychology course at De La Salle. When her career was going
nowhere, she even auditioned to host a wrestling program.
‘’That was kind of providential. One of the
guys involved in the show would turn out to be a composer, arranger
and record producer who believes singing is not just about
high-pitched voices and belting,” recalls Champagne one afternoon
about how she discovered the rocker in her. That guy is Albert
Albert who owns a recording studio.
Albert asked Champagne if she was willing to
spend some time in his studio to try out some of his rock
compositions. Thus was born the song “Take Me With You,” which
is now part of Champagne’s new alternative rock album from Vicor
Music appropriately titled Rekindle.
In the process, Champagne also discovered that
she could write songs that express her deepest feelings. Let’s
wait and see if the new Champagne would finally burst the music
bubble in her.
