Air21 eyes more wins in 2007 PBA season

AIR21 EXPRESS has acquired former Ateneo Blue Eagles JC Intal and Doug Kramer to boost its chances in the coming Philippine Basketball Association season.

Air21 president and team manager Lito Alvarez said the acquisition of the two players was a welcome development to the team.

Alvarez said air21’s nucleus, which is composed of Wynne Arboleda, Gary David, Arwind Santos, Ranidel de Ocampo, Nino Canaleta and Homer Se, is untouched and more mature this season.

“ With Intal and Kramer joining the team, we hope to do better,” said Alvarez.

Air21 signed up Intal and Kramer to three-year deals.

Intal, who was chosen fourth overall, will receive P8 million.

Kramer, No. 5 overall, on the other hand will get P7 million.

“We were surprised and we were lucky,” said Alvarez after the Express picked the 6-foot-3 Intal during the PBA Rookie Draft.

Intal and Kramer were team mates when the Blue Eagles won the University Athletic asssociation of the Philippines crown four years ago.

Last year, Ateneo made it to the championship round but lost to University of Santo Tomas.

Intal is excited and eager to prove himself saying, “Air21’s style as a running team suits me since I also likes to run a lot.”

“I’m excited to play a lot of games with Air21,” said Intal. He looks forward to playing alongside Arwind Santos of FEU and KG Canaleta of UE.

Kramer hopes his experiences in the UAAP and PBL will make him mature enough when he debuts in the PBA.

“I hope to play like a veteran in the PBA,” said Kramer.
