Unemployment, prices, interest rates seen rising

Consumers bearish about 2008

CONSUMERS turned more bearish in the final three months of this year as well as for next year, based on a survey conducted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilpinas (BSP).

In the latest round of its Consumer Expectations Survey, the BSP said its overall confidence index slipped, pulled down by declines in the sub-indices on economic conditions, family financial situation, and family income. What this means is that the average consumer is pessimistic about his family’s finances as well as overall economic prospects for the rest of this year and moving into next year.
