In keeping with the Filipino
practice of the longest Christmas season ever celebrated around the
world, Edsa Shangri-La, Manila kicked off the holidays last November
16, 2007 with the lighting of the giant Christmas tree at the Lobby
Lounge and the unveiling of the longest Yule log in the city at the
main lobby.
The concept of Shangri-la is a
mythic place of pristine and nearly magical beauty, and this soiree
kept to this promise as the holidays were welcomed with utmost class
and hospitality. Popoli’s very first editor, the gracious
Malou E. Rosal, was at hand to make certain that the evening was a
complete success with her new post as Director of Communications of
Edsa Shangri-la Hotel. Guests could not want for more as all
the requisite twinkling lights, festive sweets, tinsel and garland
were decked out accompanied by breathtaking “snow” which floated
down upon merrymakers from the rafters of the lobby ceiling!

I don’t know about you, but for people like me who
were born with an uncontrollable sweet tooth, Christmas is always
the “sweetest” time of the year (after Hallowen, of course!).
