PEN at 50
|
|
We join the Filipino literati and
the nation in congratulating the Philippine chapter of Poets,
Playwrights, Essayists and Novelists (PEN) on its 50th year. The
National Artists for Literature Alejandro R. Roces, Bienvenido
Lumbera and Frankie Sionil Jose, PEN Philippines founder and
national secretary, deserve our thanks. They have helped nurture the
spirit of the organization and worked to sustain that spirit among
the Filipino writers in English and in the other Philippine
languages.
Today the 50th Philippine PEN
Congress opens at the National Museum.
