THE Hong Kong WinterFest is now on its sixth
consecutive year and will run until January 1, 2008. The event has
been described as a fun-filled spectacle that transforms the city
into a cheery, festive, winter wonderland. Dazzling events and
activities abound, enabling everyone to enjoy the warmth and joyful
celebrations in Hong Kong during the festive season.
Animated illuminations cover the
famous skyscrapers on both sides of the Victoria Harbour, as well as
the streets that sparkle with themed decorations as the city takes
on a carnival atmosphere.
A highlight of the season is the
spectacular “A Symphony of Lights—New Year Countdown.” The
major countdown event will commence 20 minutes before midnight on
December 31, 2007. Staging from the rooftop and also on the façade
of Hong Kong’s iconic IFC 2, the first-time ever for Hong Kong,
the countdown will begin with the multimedia show involving more
than 40 buildings on both sides of the Victoria Harbour, which will
be enhanced with pyrotechnic displays.
Until January 1, Ocean Park will
be transformed into a Winter Wonderland! Visit the park as it
becomes a stunning extravaganza of world-class Christmas attractions
with celebrated ice skaters, festive and creative workshops and a
40-foot Christmas tree.
On the other side of the island,
Hong Kong Disneyland will feature astounding Sparkling Castle
Lights, Ice Fantasy and Santa’s Workshop. Guests will be able to
see the extravagant Christmas Tree at Town Square and the ultra
groovy ‘Let It Snow’ Christmas Parade.
