TALAVERA , Nueva Ecija: A barangay captain in Nueva
Ecija had allegedly hit with a gun a 16-year-old high-school student
in Barangay San Ricardo during a students’ night rumble, police
said reported on Wednesday.
The barangay head, identified as
Eduardo “Edong” del Rosario, reportedly “slapped several
times” then hit the victim Lincoln Galang, a fourth-year
high-school student of San Ricardo National High School.
Initial investigation disclosed
the victim’s group engaged in an altercation with another group of
students about 10 p.m. on December 14, during the students’ night,
prompting barangay peacekeepers to respond immediately. But while
students were already pacified, Galang told probers, del Rosario
arrived and without a word “slapped him on the face several
times.”
Police also reported that a
Bantay Bayan member, identified as Manny del Rosario, kept his gun
of unspecified caliber pointed to the victim’s waist. “After
slapping the victim, Barangay Captain del Rosario pointed a .38-cal.
on the victim Lincoln Galang, then hits on the head three times
using the same gun,” police added.
The victim sustained head
injuries, police said.
Charges of slight physical
injuries, grave threats and violation of Republic Act 7620 or Child
Abuse was filed against del Rosario before the provincial
prosecutor’s office.
