BAGUIO CITY: Starting January 8 next year, private
employees in the Cordillera region will be receiving a maximum of
P10 in their daily salaries in a form of cost of living allowance
(COLA), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported
Wednesday. The increase in the COLA was based on Wage Order 12
approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages Productivity Board after
series of public hearings and deliberation on the need to grant
relief to private sector workers in the region.
Documents released by the
office of DOLE director Ana Dione stated that private workers in the
non-agriculture sector in Baguio City, La Trinidad, Tuba, Itogon and
Sablan, all in Benguet will have a daily P10 COLA while workers in
other areas in the same sector will receive a daily P4 COLA.
Private workers in the
agriculture sector in Baguio, La Trinidad, Tuba, Itogon and Sablan
will have a daily P5 COLA.
The latest wage hike order
will cover all private workers and employees receiving the minimum
wage in the region.
