Inmate bitten twice by pet snake

KALIBO, Aklan: An inmate at the Aklan Rehabilitation Center (ARC) in Barangay Nalook, Kalibo was immediately transferred to the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial Hospital here after he was bitten by his pet, a rattlesnake, reported the Philippine News Agency.

Inmate Eric Villanueva said that he found the snake crawling inside the ARC compound two months ago and because of his loneliness at the detention compound, he decided to take care of the snake in secret.

He said that he thought the snake could not harm him because he was already bitten by the same snake a month ago and that he ignored it.

Despite the incident, he promised to keep the snake as his companion while at the center.
