RED BULL displayed its awesome
form to beat Welcoat Paints, 106-97, Friday for its ninth win in the
2007 Smart-PBA Philippine Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Rookie Jojo Duncil played like a veteran
while Cyrus Baguio scored 11 points in the final half as the Barakos
moved closer to claiming the second automatic semifinal slot.
“We are trying to solidify our
firm hold of second place. This win at least separated us from
Alaska and the rest,” said coach Yeng Guiao after Red Bull
defeated Welcoat for the second time since October 24.
Baguio and Michael Robinson
topscored with 15 points followed by Junthy Valenzuela with 13.
Duncil and Mike Hrabak chipped in 10 points each.
“We are not yet in the semis.
It’s still far because the standing is so close among several
teams. But this win is very important for us because we want to
remain at the second spot,” added Guiao.
Fil-Am Joe Devance scored a
game-high 23 points on top of 15 rebounds while Nic Belasco had 16
points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for the Dragons, who absorbed
their 12th loss against three wins.
