THIS is that time of the year when Cabinet members submit their courtesy resignation to the President.We expect that heads of government-owned or government-controlled corporations would also hand in their letters to show they’re not afraid of leaving their high-paying jobs. Presidents of government financial institutions should do likewise.

It is more than a year-end courtesy but a way of giving the President an opportunity to name a replacement or to rehire the incumbent as she sees fit.
