THE Fountain International School
on Friday launched its first Science and Mathematics fair, a
three-day event aimed at showcasing the scientific and mathematical
talents of students and encourage parents to help stimulate greater
interest in science and mathematics.
The event
provided an opportunity for self-expression and improvement of
students’ communications ability.
During the
fair, students followed a daily schedule filled with challenges from
the Department of Science and Technology and other government
agencies.
The
high-school department at the Santolan campus is at the heart of San
Juan, next to the police headquarters.
Classrooms are
provided with complete multimedia facilities and the fully equipped
library provides an additional arena to further nurture the minds of
the young.
An enriched
and extensive curriculum in science and mathematics provide an
excellent and effective pathway to enhance the scientific and
numerical literacy of the students.
The modular
approach in teaching the physics, chemistry and biology involves
treating every concept independently using one European-authored
textbooks for greater focus.
Juniors and
seniors attend weekend review classes in science, english and
mathematics to prepare for entrance examinations in universities and
colleges.
