In the House of Representatives yesterday, people in wheelchairs greeted the congressmen to remind them to give urgent attention to House Bill 6035.

That bill would amend the draconian International Property Act. The IPA protects patents, trademarks, inventions, works of art and such things from being plagiarized and pirated. Unfortunately, it also helps greedy transnational companies in making it hard for Filipinos to manufacture generic medicines even when their patents have expired.
