PRESIDENT Arroyo has appointed Government Corporate
Counsel Agnes Devanadera to the position of solicitor general,
replacing Antonio Eduardo Nachura who was appointed to the Supreme
Court.
Justice Secretary Raul M.
Gonzalez said Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita signed
Devanadera’s appointment.
Devanadera’s assumption was
effective yesterday, Gonzalez said.
Devanadera was the former mayor
of Sampaloc, Quezon, and the former president of the Mayors’
League of the Philippines. She also held the position as coordinator
of Lakas-NUCD.
She later became the
undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local
Government before making it as government corporate counsel.
