Healthy living to the power of three

By Perry Gil S. Mallari

SCIENTIFIC research has long proven that alfalfa, barley and wheat grass spelt are the best natural sources of minerals, vitamins, proteins, enzymes, chlorophyll, amino acids, including a full spectrum of phytonutrients. However, it is only now that the combined goodness of these herbs is readily and conveniently available for public consumption.

Yes, the potent mixture of alfalfa, barley and wheat grass spelt is now in caplet form through the new food supplement named ABW Leaves of Life.

“The public may be aware of the individual health benefits of alfalfa, barley and wheat grass, but not as a combined product,” admits Albert MG Garcia, CEO of Whealth Corporation, which is marketing the supplement. “This is the first time that anyone blended these cereal grasses into a caplet—that is, a combination of a capsule and a tablet.”

The effect of these three natural components is to hone the body for optimum absorption of nutrients by making it more alkaline than acidic. The endocrinologist Dr. Hernando B. Delizo, who served as panelist at the product launch, confirmed that this action is safe and acceptable from a physiological perspective. He added that the ingredients indeed have the properties to help the body repair itself.

Nutritionist Joan P. Sumpio, another ABW consultant addressed the issue of allergic reactions by reiterating common sense: Moderation should always be the rule of thumb in taking any supplements.

The recommended dosage for ABW is two to three caplets a day or 1 teaspoon a day for the powder variant. Both Delizo and Sumpio stated that ABW is safe for children.

As for men, they might be interested to know that ABW has components that can enhance sexual performance. Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine), Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin), and zinc, which are all present in the food supplement, are effective in preventing erectile dysfunction and improving sexual drive.

According to Garcia, alfalfa, barley and wheat grass spelt, have been difficult to source in the local market, but with the production of ABW, those looking into benefiting from the said “leaves of life” is now at hand. The product is made locally with imported raw ingredients.

Dubbed as the “next generation nutriceutical” [food that provide medical and health benefits], ABW Leaves of Life is certified organic by the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia and has the stamp of approval of the Philippine Bureau of Food and Drug.
