E r o s for originality

Raids on hawkers of pirated DVDs, confiscation of shipments of fake designer label bags, debates on online file sharing networks and plagiarism of sampled songs all come to mind when you say intellectual property rights. But an art space for bleeding edge painters, sculptors, photographers, performance artists and writers? You bet’cha. No to none-payment by clients and rip-offs by copycats. Artists, know your rights!

Last February 23, Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IP Philippines) unveiled the Alab [Flame] art space at its Makati office with its exhibit Eros, but one show in an ongoing commitment to empower artists on their creative rights. The exhibit, timed for month of Valentine’s, also is part of this year’s National Arts Month. The exhibit runs until April 30.
