US offers help in slay probes

THE US Ambassador to the Philippines, Kristie Kenney, on Tuesday offered her government’s help to investigate hundreds of extrajudicial killings in the country, which have targeted mostly Left-leaning activists.

Kenny’s offer came after se­parate investigations by the Melo Commission and UN Special Rapporteur, Philip Alston, blamed the military for many of the killings.
