The stars play billiards too

Mowelfund mounts for a cause billiard tourney with Bata and Django

It has been common practice to have show-biz idols play basketball, volleyball, golf and badminton among themselves or with nonshow-biz sports lovers to raise funds for a good cause. But can a game of billiards, between say Christopher de Leon and champion Efren Bata Reyes, attract a crowd of ticket-buying fans of either or both celebrities?

The answer is most likely yes, which is why respected show-biz personality Boots Anson Roa thought of putting up the Pakner 9-Ball Billiard Celebrity Challenge tonight at Greenhills Promenade’s Teatrino to raise much-needed funds for the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, better known as Mowelfund. Boots serves as the organization’s executive director.
