San Sebastian, St. Benilde 
lead 3-0 in NCAA netfest


DEFENDING champion San Sebastian College blasted Mapua Institute of Technology, 3-0, while College of St. Benilde demolished Jose Rizal University, 3-0, Wednesday to stay on top of the National Collegiate Athletic Association seniors tennis tournament at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Michael Tenoria scored a 7-5, 6-1 decision over Anthony Laplap in the first singles and later teamed up with Gelico Agcaoili to beat Laplap and Raja Sogi, 6-2, 6-0, in the doubles. The Stags completed the victory after Jorge Boticario clobbered Sogi, 8-4, in the second singles.

St. Benilde also swept their matches after Daniel Bautista downed Junrey Sajulga, 6-3, 6-2, in the first singles. Paul Vincent Cruz and Gian Aguila waylaid Sajulga and Jesse Segundo, 6-1, 6-1, in the doubles while Martin Ramos outclassed Mark Katindig, 8-1, in the second singles.

The Letran Knights beat the San Beda Red Lions, 3-0, to tie their opponents for second at 2-1 while University of Perpetual Dalta System barged into the win column with a 2-1 victory over Philippine Christian University.

San Sebastian and St. Benilde also sustained their winning run to keep the lead in the juniors division.

Mark Cruz defeated Fredmore Dominisac, 6-4, 6-1, Arjohn de la Cruz and Aaron Taguinin outplayed Dominisac and Alain Pila, 7-6, 6-3, while Mikoff Manduriao downed Pila, 8-0, as the Staglets blanked the Letran Squires, 3-0, to remain unbeaten after three games.

St. Benilde, on the other hand, notched its third consecutive win at the expense of San Beda Red Cubs, 3-0. Raymond Villarete conquered Tim Polero, 6-1, 6-0, Villarete and Alberto Villamor beat Polero and Rodel Navarro, 6-3, 6-2, while Paul Nicole Magaway trounced Navarro, 8-3.

The Altalettes picked their second win courtesy of the PCU Baby Dolphins. Russell Arcilla Jr. downed Fritz Verdad, 6-0, 6-1, in the first singles while Arcilla and Jeremiah Macias defeated Richard Ogayon and Verdad, 6-1, 6-1, in the doubles. Narvaez blasted Ogayon, 8-0, in the second singles.
