TransCo auction seen
key
to energy-sector reforms |

THE fate of the Philippines’
power-sector reforms hinges on the successful auction of the 25-year
concession of state-run National Transmission Corp. (TransCo),
according to the Institute of International Finance Inc. (IIF)
The government, through state-run
Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (Psalm), again
moved the TransCo bidding to February 5 from January 22. This was
the fourth postponement, supposedly to give bidders and Psalm more
time to iron out legal and commercial issues hounding the
country’s power grid.
