a staunch critic of Commission on Elections Chairman Benjamin Abalos,
supports the Comelec’s stand that it is now almost impossible to
automate—even partially—the May elections.
Another opposition figure, the
Senate minority leader, Aquilino Pimentel Jr., holds the same view.
So do many other opposition politicians.
WITH the failed efforts by the
Commission on Elections (Comelec) to automate the electoral process,
everything is back to the fraud-prone manual elections.
By law, the Commission on
Elections (Comelec) can set up an automated election system (AES) to
count votes and canvass the results of national and local polls.
