Metro Manila Film Festival

Recycled stories, old faces, rehashed titles

THE Metro Manila Film Festival organization, through its chairman Bayani Fernando, has announced the final list of entries for the annual year-end film festival. A major consideration in the selection is commercial viability, the reason why most of the films enlisted big names when their producers submitted their applications for consideration. Whether these big stars will be available to shoot or not will be the producers main concern now and we heard that negotiations and talent fee haggling have commenced.

Six films have been pre-selected to make up the first batch of films that will start screening on Christmas day: Resiklo of Imus Productions, Bahay Kubo of MAQ Productions, Katas ng Saudi of Maverick Films, Enteng Kabisote 4 of OctoArts Films, Sakal Sakali, Saklolo of Star Cinema ABS-CBN and Shake, Rattle and Roll of Regal Entertainment. We see the same titles every year and we are sure that moviegoers can only take so much.
