Metro Manila Film Festival |
|
Recycled stories,
old faces, rehashed titles |
|
By Ricky T. Gallardo
THE Metro Manila Film Festival
organization, through its chairman Bayani Fernando, has announced
the final list of entries for the annual year-end film festival. A
major consideration in the selection is commercial viability, the
reason why most of the films enlisted big names when their producers
submitted their applications for consideration. Whether these big
stars will be available to shoot or not will be the producers main
concern now and we heard that negotiations and talent fee haggling
have commenced.
Six films have been pre-selected
to make up the first batch of films that will start screening on
Christmas day: Resiklo of Imus Productions, Bahay Kubo of MAQ
Productions, Katas ng Saudi of Maverick Films, Enteng Kabisote 4 of
OctoArts Films, Sakal Sakali, Saklolo of Star Cinema ABS-CBN and
Shake, Rattle and Roll of Regal Entertainment. We see the same
titles every year and we are sure that moviegoers can only take so
much.
